Pellet

Pellet stoves allow you to burn a wide variety of biofuels, including wood pellets in various grades, 100% corn, sunflower seeds, and wheat. You simply choose the most economical source for your area.

These  stoves have a hopper where fuel is poured in and then augers the fuel as needed to maintain temperature.  It has a very small burning pot and due to the type of design where a combustion blower is used to create the draft it does not require a chimney that goes out through the roof (although if desired it can be vented this way) but can be vented similar to a dryer but using a special pellet vent pipe, where it can vent straight through a wall but does not require going up above the roofline.

Advantages

In most cases less expensive to maintain same temperature in a living area than propane, or electric.  Also due to the ability to zone heat and control and see the amount of fuel being consumed may also be less expensive than natural gas.
Models include: free standing and inserts for existing fireplaces.  Some models may also be built in to look like a fireplace or to replace a built in gas fireplace.
